Black History Month Salute: E.F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home

This week, we recognize E.F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home for its 115+ years in business. It is the oldest African American funeral home in the Greater Cleveland area and the oldest African American business in Cuyahoga County.

For over a century, E.F. Boyd has focused on providing families with sympathetic and compassionate professional services for bereavement care.

“My great grandfather started this business in the early 1900’s in order to serve others, and we have stayed within that mission throughout our over 100 year existence,” says E. F. Boyd’s Lisa Hamilton, an advanced planning manager and manager of the Emery Chapel. “Comforting and serving grieving families is not just our mission, it is our pleasure.”

Hamilton said the business is now in its fourth generation and is still very much within the family.
