A Message From The Board Chair

Dear fellow Chamber members,

I hope that all of you and your families are doing well and staying healthy! Being that we are living in unprecedented times, it is important that we remain connected with our colleagues, and centers of influence, because we are all in this together.

Like many today, myself included, we’ve had to make adjustments in the way we do business, and even in our family circles, in order to keep our families and customers safe.  In doing so, we want to keep in mind that we have to take a moment to care for ourselves. Here are some helpful tips that I came across, and that I would like to share with you.

Take a moment to:

  • Get moving. Get up from your workspace and do simple stretches
  • Go outside. Take a walk. Breathe fresh air.
  • Engage your senses. Listen to a favorite song or playlist or focus on a piece of art that you love.
  • Be creative. If you have more than a few minutes, do something creative. Doodle. Dance. Sing.
  • Breathe. Close your eyes, breathe in for five counts, hold the breath for three and slowly release for five. Repeat five times.
  • Practice gratitude. Each and every day, think of and write down three things for which you are grateful. It may be as simple as the sound of a bird singing or as large as your family. Developing this practice will help you gain perspective and lessen stress.
  • Attend to yourself. Take a soothing bath or long hot shower. Take a short nap. Cook a healthy meal.

I hope to see you all soon.

Stay well!
